Frequently asked

What to know before you come.

What happens at an appointment?
Ninety minutes, one client at a time. We sit at the long oak table in the front room. Espresso. Samples laid out on linen. We sketch as we talk through what you're looking for — stone, metal, scale, budget. By the end you'll have two refined sketches and an idea of timeline and cost.
Is there a fee?
No. Consultations are complimentary and carry no obligation. We don't take a deposit until you've approved a CAD design and the centre stone, which is typically three to four weeks after the first conversation.
What if I'm not in San Francisco?
We hold virtual consultations Tuesday through Saturday on the same schedule as our atelier. For bespoke commissions, we ship sample boxes — actual rings, stones, and metal samples — to clients anywhere in the world.
Can my partner come?
Of course. We design the room for one to four people. Bring whoever you'd like — a partner, a parent, a friend with good taste. We'll set out enough espresso.
How far in advance should I book?
For a non-urgent commission, two to three weeks ahead is comfortable. We hold a small number of slots each week for clients on a tighter timeline — call the atelier directly if you're inside that window.

Client stories

Held, worn, passed down.

A small selection of recent commissions and the moments they were made for.

Margaux sketched a setting for my grandmother's emerald in our first hour together. Six weeks later it was on my hand. I haven't taken it off since.
Aurelia reworked my mother's tennis bracelet for our tenth anniversary — same stones, modern setting. It's the most thoughtful gift I've ever given.
I wanted a quiet pair of studs for my daughter's eighteenth. We sat in the atelier for an hour. They arrived in a hand-lettered box. She cried.
