Sunburst vs. tight pavé — choosing a halo style
The sunburst (default) angles the halo claws outward, like petals unfolding around the center stone. The space between the claws catches light from the side; this is the version that reads brightest in candle-lit rooms. About 70% of our Estelles ship sunburst.
The tight micro-pavé draws the claws inward, flush against the center stone. The halo reads as a single uninterrupted ring of light, with no negative space — quieter, denser, and the version we recommend for clients who layer a wedding band tight against the engagement ring.
Sizing & resize policy
The Estelle ships in your size and is complimentary to resize one full size in either direction within twelve months — a generous window for a halo, because the halo basket adds rigidity to the band and the resize requires the halo to be re-tensioned.
We send a complimentary printed ring sizer before the order for first-time clients. The 0.40ctw shoulder pavé option restricts resize range to half a size (the pavé stones are spaced for a specific finger circumference).
Materials & hallmarks
Solid 18k gold (all colors) or 950 platinum, alloyed at our bench in California from 100% recycled metal. The band is 1.7mm wide; the cathedral basket adds a 3.6mm rise above the band.
Approximate weight: 4.4g (band + halo + basket) plus center stone. Hallmarked inside with the Aurelia maker's mark, the metal stamp, and the year of completion.
Lifetime care — what's covered
Halo prongs are the highest-maintenance setting we make. We recommend a once-yearly visit (or insured courier round-trip) for prong inspection, re-tightening, and a high-polish — all complimentary for the lifetime of the piece.
Includes rhodium re-plating for the white gold option. If a halo stone is ever lost, we replace it from our atelier stock at no charge as long as you bring or send the ring in within the same calendar year.
Shipping & certification
Fully insured signature shipping is included on every order over $250. The Estelle ships in a hand-lettered presentation box with the IGI/GCAL stone report, an archival photograph, and a bench note from the goldsmith who built it.
US delivery in 3–5 business days from completion. International via FedEx International Priority, fully insured, all duties prepaid. We email a tracking link and a signed-acceptance photograph on delivery.

What we look for in a halo setting.
The Estelle is the ring we get the most engineering questions about. These are the four proportions that decide whether a halo reads quiet and confident or loud and apologetic.
Halo proportion vs. center stone
A well-set halo reads as a single ring of light around the center stone — never a separate, visible row of stones. The Estelle's halo stones are 1.2mm, hand-set with no visible metal between them, sized to the center carat at the bench.
Basket height — and what it tells you
The halo basket sits 3.6mm above the band; the center stone sits 1.8mm above the halo. That's the proportion that lets the Estelle clear a wedding band without lifting awkwardly above the finger. Lower baskets read sentimental; higher baskets read dressy.
Color match across center & halo
We grade the halo stones to F color — half a grade higher than the G/VS1 center. The slight overshoot keeps the halo reading cooler and brighter than the center stone, which is what gives a halo its lift. A halo set to the same color as the center reads dull.
Side-stone density at the shoulder
If you add the 0.4ctw shoulder pavé, we set twenty 1.2mm stones from the basket to the back of the finger — a density we chose specifically to balance against the halo. A heavier shoulder pavé competes with the halo for attention; this one supports it.
